Both of these sites have listings for freelance jobs in several categories. They also don’t require a fee to use the site. However, once you get a job, they both take a commission out. The trick is to bid slightly higher than you normally would so that you don’t feel the affect of the commission fee.

There are also several other job boards that have listings for freelance projects. These work pretty much the same way as Getafreelancer.com and Rentacoder.com. The difference is that you pay a flat out membership fee. While the initial fee may seem high, if you get a lot of work from the site, it could be worth it.

Join a Team
There are some companies out there that focus on building a team of writers or other freelance professionals. They screen freelance applications and find only the best. Some companies, such as Aquent.com, have been around for a while and have a steady client base.
Finding a Routine
As you first set out to find freelance jobs, you may find that you are doing a lot of work bidding for jobs and applying to classified ads for jobs on places like Craigslist.com. After a while, you will learn which methods work best for you and concentrate your efforts to only those things.
